About me

Smiling woman stands in a garden with blooming red flowers and greenery.

I am an EMMY-winning producer/director working on science and nature documentaries. With over 14 years experience in specialist factual television, and an academic background in Zoology, I've worked across a range of subjects: from penguins to elephants, cosmology to geology.

My latest series 'Secrets of the Penguins' won 2 EMMY Awards for 'Outstanding Nature Documentary', and 'Outstanding Cinematography: Factual', and has received over 15 further nominations, including a BAFTA. For this series, I also field directed and edit produced National Geographic's best ever performing social media clip; cliff-diving baby penguins (full video below).

In June 2024, I was named as a Broadcast Now magazine HotShot - a prize celebrating up and coming producers in their field, which I was put forward for by Talesmith.

I enjoy all aspects of building a film – identifying locations, species and behaviours, working with VFX to produce storyboards for CGI and animation sequences, and writing beat sheets and shooting scripts, as well as conducting interviews with contributors and experts. In particular I’m passionate about building a full and engaging story, while teasing out an emotive narrative, and identifying emerging stories on the ground.

I am experienced working in the field, particularly in remote and extreme locations, and on boat-based projects. Over the past 5 years I've set up and directed large scale shoots in Antarctica, South Georgia, Botswana, Australia, and the Galápagos.

I’m confident in directing multi-camera teams to produce visually stunning and stand out sequences, using imaginative techniques and working with a variety of camera systems - including long lens, underwater, drone, and gimbal (GSS, Shotover, handheld DJI).

My key skills lie in meticulous organisation, planning, and attention to detail both during pre-production and on the ground, and a creative and collaborative approach to storytelling and filmmaking.

Whether you need assistance with logistics, treatments, developments, recces, archive or whole projects, please feel free to get in touch.
